Once again the opportunity is here to apply for an ICPC scholarship to the Campbell Center, located in Mount Carroll, IL. The Campbell Center provides exceptional classes in all areas of conservation and preservation. See their website for the current class schedule: http://www.campbellcenter.org. Iowa Conservation and Preservation Consortium is offering two $500 reimbursement scholarships to the Campbell Center for Historic Preservation Studies for Iowa residents working in a Museum, Historical Society, Library, Archive, Genealogical Society Library, Government Record Office or other institution that preserves the history of Iowa. Applications for the award are due May 1, 2008. The Campbell Center offers short but intense "material based," hands-on continuing education classes for beginning, mid-career, and senior-level heritage professionals in preventive care and conservation for archives and museum collections. The Campbell Center instructors are leading experts in their fields from all around the world. Information about the center and classes can be found at www.campbellcenter.org.
In the past two years, ICPC has awarded scholarships to 4 people: Sue Olson, Lee County Historical Society took a class on Photograph Care and Preservation; Thomas Munson who works for the Plymouth County Historical Museum participated in a class on Maintenance Preservation and Historic Structure Reports; William Kreuger, Iowa Masonic Library and Museums, won the scholarship to take Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Recovery; and Susan Kuecker, Curator, of the African American Historical Museum and Cultural Center of Iowa took Textile Preservation and Exhibition Techniques.
We encourage all to apply. Application deadline is May 1, 2008. Two scholarships will be awarded.
